Proceed to remove the throttle body by taking out the mounting bolts and discarding the throttle body gasket. During installation, ensure the gasket mating surfaces are clean, and use a new gasket, tightening the throttle body mounting bolts securely. To remove the upper intake manifold, disconnect the battery, detach the air cleaner outlet tube, and remove the accelerator cable splash shield, bracket, and cable from the throttle body. Disconnect all remaining hoses and electrical connectors. For specific engine models, additional steps may include disconnecting the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector, vacuum lines, PCV valve, spark plug wires, and other components. Remove the upper intake manifold mounting bolts, lift the manifold off the fuel rail, and discard the gasket. Installation involves cleaning and inspecting the mounting faces, placing a new gasket onto the lower intake mounting face, and securing the upper intake manifold and throttle body assembly onto the lower intake manifold. For the one-piece intake manifold on 2001 models, the removal process includes disconnecting various components such as the mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, vacuum hoses, accelerator and cruise control cables, exhaust gas recirculation (EGA) valve, spark plug wires, wiring harness, ignition coil pack, and powertrain control module (PCM) harness. Remove the six bolts securing the intake manifold and lift it off the cylinder heads. During installation, clean gasket surfaces thoroughly, align the bolt holes, and tighten the bolts in a specific sequence, completing the reassembly in reverse order.
