Ford Edge Tie Rod End Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to replace a tie-rod end on a Ford Edge?
    A: Loosen front wheel lug nuts. Apply parking brake, raise vehicle and support securely on jack stands. Remove front wheel. Hold tie-rod with locking pliers or wrench, loosen jam nut to mark tie-rod end position. Remove cotter pin and loosen nut on tie-rod end stud. Disconnect tie-rod end from steering knuckle arm with remover. Disconnect tie-rod end from steering knuckle with puller. Remove nut and detach tie-rod end. Unscrew tie-rod end from tie-rod. Thread tie-rod end to marked position, insert stud into steering knuckle arm. Tighten jam nut securely. Install nut on stud, tighten to torque. Install new cotter pin. Install wheel and lug nuts. Lower vehicle, tighten lug nuts to torque. Check alignment and adjust if needed.
